Panagiotis Moschou

Panagiotis Moschou obtained a Master’s and Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Physiology and Biotechnology at the University of Crete (Greece) in Prof. Roubelakis-Angelaki’s lab. His work focused on the roles of the catabolism of small metabolic molecules known as polyamines. He discovered a new class of polyamine oxidases that regulate plant development, stress responses, and cell fate. He did a postdoc in the lab of Prof. Peter Bozhkov at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala (Sweden), where he studied mechanisms by which plant cell polarity and fate are coupled by proteolysis. In 2016 he spent a year in the lab of Prof. Jonathan Jones (The Sainsbury Lab, UK) as a visiting researcher focusing on the development of new methods for studying proteolysis. At the same time, he started his lab in the Department of Plant Biology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences as an Associate Professor. In 2018 he started a lab at the Department of Biology, the University of Crete where he was recruited as an Associate Professor. He is also an affiliated researcher at the Foundation of Research and Technology, Hellas.

Postdoctoral Researchers
Chen Liu

Chen Liu obtained a Master degree in Botany at the SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY (China) in Prof. Shangzhi Huang lab and got a Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Physiology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (Germany) in Dr. Anton Schäffner’s lab. Her Ph.D. work focused on how the Aquaporin protein level was affected by the same gene family in Arabidopsis. In 2017, she started her postdoc at the Department of Plant Biology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Chen is studying how cell polarity is established in plant cells and how this impacts developmental fate.

Giannis Hatzianestis
Giannis obtained a Bachelor at the University of Crete (Greece), Department of Biology in 2018. In 2018 he started his Master in Plant Molecular and Applied Biology – Green Biotechnology and joined Assoc. Prof. Panagiotis Moschou’s lab at the University of Crete as a master student. He is currently a PhD student
Anna Törnkvist

Anna Törnkvist obtained a Master’s degree in Plant Biology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Prof. Christina Dixelius lab. In 2018, she started as a PhD candidate in Assoc. Prof. Panagiotis Moschou’s lab at the Department of Plant Biology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Anna is studying the role of proteolysis in the oil crop rapeseed (Brassica napus) with a focus on crop improvement. Her work is also focused on optimizing and developing new approaches for genome editing.
